WoW Hiatus

Posted by Bansidhe on August 2nd, 2008 filed in Life in General

The time has come for me to take a break from WoW.  Currently, I’m at that burnout stage.  Sure, I could do dailies until I had amassed a wealth of gold for the expansion, but at this point, I’m not even sure I’ll be around for the expansion.

I think I’m disinterested in WoW because all the people with whom I enjoyed playing have either taken a hiatus or quit ouright.  I know the summer months are always slower for MMOs because everyone is outside taking advantage of the nice weather.  Come winter and WotLK, more people will be gaming in Azeroth.

However, it’s still disheartening to log on to see that everyone you know is no longer playing.  A large part of the reason I log on is to “see” my friends and loved ones.  Granted, I see Tenryuu and Chiryuko every weekend for our weekly breakfast.  I just miss seeing everyone else.  Parenthood, jobs, and new relationships have taken precedence in the lives of my WoW buddies.  Some have just burned out from WoW.  I can relate to that.

I’m still working on the nursery along with trying to get everything ready for the school year that starts in less than three weeks.  I’ll be doing sigs here and there, but the turn-around time won’t be as fast as it was in the beginning of the summer.  Hope everyone understands.

This is one of the MANY reasons I think MMOs need to drop the subscription model. Many people would keep playing (and paying for extras) if their friends could even login a few times per month.

I have a post about this on my blog. Check it out here:
