Another two bite the dust…

Well, we lost another two people from the guild. Sure, we lose some here and there because people don’t feel we progress fast enough. This time, it wasn’t guild progression, it was chat. Oh wait, we’ve lost people before due to chat.

After venting to Tenryuu, he told me to blog and get it off my chest. He told me to post it as is, but I’m taking a cue from Ratshag and blocking out the names of the innocent. Actually in this case, I’m blocking out the names of the idiots.

Cast of Major Characters:
G - an officer (her friend was the idiot that applied)
Th/Mon - an officer (married to G)
Cy - another officer
Lu - another officer
Se/Sec - member who left
Dy/Cha - Se’s wife who left

Prior to this screenshot, Th made some comment again about getting sexual favors from his sister in guild chat. Se/Sec mentioned that guild chat was not appropriate and then the craziness started.
Idiots 1
Instead of accepting responsibility or toning down guild chat, G defends what her husband says and states that people should go directly to the offending person. You’ll notice she then tells Sec to l2wordfilter when his kids are around; I don’t think there’s a word filter for saying you got a hand job or a BJ from your sister if they are separated with a space.

Instead of leaving well enough alone, a group of them who are in Vent together decide to test the word filter. Way to instigate. Dy quits the guild. Tr is a RL friend of the two. You’ll see him later.

Dy then logs her other 70 character, Ch, and quits. She is followed by her husband, a holy pally. However, she makes a statement on Ch prior to leaving. To which Th/Mon has a complete smart ass response. Way to be an officer. You’ll notice that G states her stance in guild chat again. Hoo is some young initiate we just acquired who had to chime into the conversation.

By this point, I’m fed up. It’s been a long day, and I’m done with people who run people off then complain about progression. I’m followed by Ir, the guild leader, who honestly didn’t really make a stance so much as he made an observation.

More idiots

Rom/Kan states she has Th/Mon on ignore apparently as a joke. Notice how he still doesn’t take responsibility for his actions? This is followed by a little confrontation between G and I. This proves to me that you may have enough books smarts to have a PhD at a young age, but you may not necessarily have common sense. Notice how Cy and Lu, both officers, finally chime in. Did I mention they were in Vent with the idiots?

Th/Mon finally accepts responsibility but in the same sentence lays blame on the people who are offended. Twenty minutes later, Lu finally states maybe we should clean it up. You think?

I think I straight up put it out there how I felt, and short of tattooing it on her forehead, I don’t know how much more clear I could make it. AV is looking really good right now.

Problem is your officers pretty much condone it. They push it, instead of taking care of things before it gets too out of hand.

But you already knew this with ‘G’ and ‘Asstard er Mon’

Hugs girlie.. I knew when I heard that they had reapplied it was going to happen again.

Anyway, I hope you kicked butt in AV..

Bah, easy come, easy go I say.

I’ve seen too many players through-out my many years on WoW to really let it bother me when one or a couple get their feathers ruffled and leave the guild.

Even if they were good players, there will always be other good players out there to replace them soon.

Well, opinions being what they are and worth what they are…here’s mine:

One of two things needs to happen: the offending players need to be booted from the guild or you should depart from the guild. The second option is probably a little more drastic than the situation warrants, but if leadership doesn’t want to do what it takes to keep the guild as a fun and friendly place for all involved (not just themselves and their friends) then it may well be time to move on.

I’ve been in a similar situation, tried to enact change, saw change wouldn’t happen and cut my losses. Sometimes, that’s just the way it goes…some people just enjoy sucking the fun out of the game for others.

I have to agree with Khol on this one. There’s a line between an “adult” environment and swearing every other word and making inappropriate comments. The guild leader should be the FIRST to crack down on this sort of thing, not the first to leap to the defense of the offender, regardless of their marital status. Until that happens, the environment is not going to change, and will likely get worse.

G glossed right over the fact that it was the language usage that led you to gquit the first time, and applied it to you having a personal thing against that one person. It’s not a “grudge”, it’s that you didn’t want to put up with that sort of behavior, regardless of who was behind it.

There are much better people out there to be guilded with, IMHO. If it was me I’d be moving on unless I had some REALLY strong personal motive to stay.
