BA Topic: What do you enjoy about the class you play the most?

At the suggestion of my brother, Tenryuu, I joined the Blog Azeroth community this week, and I’ve decided to take up the shared topic challenge posted by Siha of Banana Shoulders.

What do you enjoy about the class you play the most?

My warlock is level 70, and I’ve never really taken time to analyze exactly why I enjoying playing Bansidhe. While playing Bansidhe over the last year, I know I’ve said, “I love this class!” or “Wow, this is so much fun!” Yet, I have never stopped to think why is she fun?

The first reason that I enjoy the class is because it’s not a healing class. In other MMOs, I’ve played healers, and my first WoW character was a level 60 druid who always healed. She was specced for DPS, but I was always taken in groups to heal. I learned very quickly that healing was not my thing as I take every death personally and stress. Bansidhe can’t heal nor can she ever be asked to heal. That’s a definite plus to her class.

I enjoy playing her because I can play alone and easily survive most PVE encounters. After I disenchanted and deleted my tier 0.5 druid (quite liberating), I rolled a warlock at the suggestion of a friend. He thought since I tend to like PVE and being by myself, I would enjoy the survivability that the warlock class offers. He was absolutely correct. I enjoy that Bansidhe can take on several mobs, dot them up, do a mass fear, and then drain life on each one as they run around hapless. In fact, I enjoy it so much that sometimes I will take on several mobs just to test my survivability. Many times, my husband has looked over at me because I cackle maniacally when I successfully take out five to eight mobs. I find great joy from her ability to survive situations that others may not.

The warlock class is also fun because it’s a utility class. It’s not essential that I have to be in every group (like a healer or a tank). Sure, there are some instance encounters where one would need a lock due to needing banishments, enslavements, and seed of corruptions. However, in most cases, any other DPS can fill the roll. That means I don’t have to be in a group if I’m not feeling up to it. Whereas a healer gets stuck being in a group because he or she is the only healer online. That rarely happens with a warlock.

Lastly, I love having pets. I was so excited every time I received a new pet. Granted, it’s not as exciting as when I tamed new pets on my hunter, but I still like having several pets to choose from that increase my chances of surviving an encounter.

I’m quite sure that I’ll find more reasons to love the warlock class as I continue to play it, but those are the ones that stand out for me today.

Thanks! :) That’s actually an old avatar that I whipped up to use on the guild site. I intended to make a sig with it but never did.
