Sick Days

Seriously, sick days totally get in the way of raiding.  Tonight is Gruul’s but I’m too exhausted from being sick.  My lovely students have given me whatever is going around these days.  I’m going to be down for the count for the next few days while I recuperate.  If you sent a sig request, I swear I’m not ignoring you.

To respec or not respec, that is the question.

I’ve been sitting here for the last hour pondering whether or not I should take Bansidhe and respec.  I’m pretty much your standard Affliction-based PVE warlock simply because I fear re-speccing.  As embarrassing as it is, here’s why.

One, I’ve been reading various sites which rattle off things like coefficients and percentages, and to be quite honest, my head hurts.  I know there are tons of people out there who are good at the whole calculating percentages, factoring coefficients, using an abacus, so on, and so forth.  I, however, read all that and my brain shuts down completely.   (Yes, I know some of you are thinking, “WTF is an abacus?”  Those of you that know what one is are probably thinking, “Who the heck still uses an abacus?”  To this day, my mother keeps an abacus with her checkbook.)

Two, I’m not an auditory learner by any means so talking to me about x, y, and z does no good.  I get about three sentences into all that an my brain pretty much goes somewhere tropical, and the rest becomes the Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa noise from the old Charlie Brown specials.  Do you hear me, He Who Can Spout a Crapload of Facts regarding WoW and Make his Sister’s Head Hurt, Tenryuu???  (insert fist shaking here)  Don’t you dare try and discuss this with me over breakfast tomorrow!

Three, as much as I do want to improve my character, I sink enough of my time outside of gaming into data analysis.  Here is where I could wax poetically about No Child Left Behind, also known as No Teacher Left Sober, but I won’t.  Suffice it to say, I analyze a crapload of data regarding my students on a daily basis, and I just don’t want to have to do it in a game.

So, after my research, I’m no further along than I was an hour ago.  I’ll figure it out eventually.

Entrecard - My Nemesis!

Just Playing

Okay, yeah, I’m being overdramatic. Entrecard is not my nemesis, but man, I hate the size of the cards. They have to be no larger than 125 pixels by 125 pixels. I feel so limited!

So, I sat down tonight and made Ratshag my guinea pig. I know, I know! Orcs aren’t guinea pigs, and Ratshag is way too big to stuff in a cage.

Just PlayingAnyways, I don’t expect him to use it as I was just testing my small palette skills or lack thereof. It does display better if you actually click on it.

Crossing the Line

Lately, I’ve read several blog posts about the behavior expected when one leaves a guild. Matticus has a post that nails it on the head. I won’t discuss that further. Instead I’d like to discuss behavior in general while in a guild.

I’ll say this story is a classic example of how not to behave in guild chat, and I need to get it off my chest before I implode. As Mark Twain wrote, “Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.”

My husband and I have gamed with a small group of people for over five years, and we moved from another MMO to WoW with them. Our guild had always been that casual guild that would never make it past ten man instances. You know the kind; people use them on their way up to bigger and better things.

Along the way, it managed to grow and pick up several people. One of those people, in the beginning, was very quiet. He never spoke on Vent and rarely typed anything in guild chat. Not a problem. Some people like to be solitary. From here on out, I’ll call him Jagbag. Can you tell this doesn’t end well? Read the rest of this page »

Drum Roll, Blogroll, or Cinnamon Roll?

Honestly, out of the three at this point in the night, I think I want a cinnamon roll. Ah, the things we revert to when we’re not feeling well.

When it comes to the whole blogroll aspect of my site, it’s been lacking. I only had two sites listed originally because I hadn’t really ventured out into the blogging realm to see what was out there.

Then Tenryuu pointed me in the direction of Entrecard, essentially a click-based advertising system. Hyouzan was kind enough to break it down for me, and soon, I was off and reading the blogs of other gamers.

I was a little sidetracked by the entire clicking on cards (OCD, anyone?) and forgot to add interesting blogs to my roll. No, not my cinnamon roll. I’m also pretty bad at remembering to bookmark blogs that interest me.

So, tonight, I made a point to sit down and create a blogroll. Then I realized it was way too long to have in the sidebar. Tenryuu, also known as Ten, suggested some coding that would swap between everything on my blogroll.

However, being the goofball that I am, I decided to make an entirely new page with all the blogs I visit, categorize them, and give them graphics. Why make anything easy when I can exert way more effort for the same payout, right? Seriously, what’s wrong with me? No, Ten and Hyouzan, don’t answer that.

So, with a drum roll, I present to you my new blogroll, also known as Bewitching Blogs.
